Meaningful friendships are hard to come by and when I am bestowed with a chance to make up to one that has estranged, I put my utmost effort, blood and sweat into it! Every step of this concrete cake is something foreign to me and I encountered many issues throughout this one-week journey. But alas, I survived!

One thing to note is that I baked L’s cake with my new Kitchenaid mixer. This is a big deal because Juvie bought it for me out of the blue after 4 years of wait. It is the sweetest thing because we were trying to save some money as I was already not in a good space and had thoughts of quitting my job then. Armed with a tool of love, what can go wrong!
It is a classic vanilla cake covered with English toffee Swiss meringue buttercream and sea salt dark chocolate gems and spheres with a white chocolate drip. There’s also bits of honeycomb scattered within the cake layers as a little surprise. I’m just super happy that Livi and L loved it. Happy Birthday, L!
