Week 40: Full Term & No Baby!

After prepping for hypno-birthing and natural delivery, we found out from our doctor that we were zero centimetre dilated last Saturday, despite all the Braxton-Hicks or false contractions I’ve been feeling. And then our doctor is suggesting unnatural induction to force her out, when she is perfectly healthy. He mentioned that we can only wait till week 40 + 3 days.

This is bullshit. I’ll be fine if there are issues with me or our little moon but we are both fine. There is no reason for intervention!

So I went to research on natural induction methods and found these:

  1. Sex (kinda tough and awkward. Imagine penguin fail sex. LOL!)
  2. Evening Primrose Oil
  3. Acupuncture
  4. Acupressure
  5. Lots of walking
  6. Lots of lunges, squats & pelvic exercises

We went to a near-by TCM that Juvie frequents and she started putting the needles into the points that I did read about online. Super legit! And after my first session, I had a surprise shortly after. I never imagined myself to be so happy to find blood and feeling crampy at 6am in the morning. I had bloody show! This happens when the cervix starts to soften and open up. Then later on that day, I got bits and pieces of mucus plug falling out, also due to cervix opening!

This means progress!

I went for daily acupuncture until my next appointment, about 3 days. Doc did another cervix check on me and found that I am 1cm dilated! And he started to dig out as much mucus plug and blood clots as he could so that was kinda gross and uncomfortable.

Went for one more acupuncture session that day and slept early. Woke up at 1am with really bad menstrual-like cramps and feeling of diarrhea. Sat in the toilet a couple of times till 4am. Finally realised that sitting on the gym ball is so much more comfortable than lying down!

Did some stretches and pelvis exercises on the ball before trying to get some sleep.

I think we will see Lissie soon! I hope we don’t ever need to induce her unnaturally as I have a uterine septum and it increases the chance of needing an emergency cesarean. If we do eventually, I would probably opt for cesarean straightaway.

Please be good to mummy, Lissie. Please don’t let me go through the bad stuff. 🙁
