Project ♥ #1: Beansprout Husk Pillow (Part 1)

Waiting for this little one to get out of danger zone sure is long. Being overly-excited future parents, Juvie and I can’t wait to start showing our love. Thus, we’re going to hand make our little bundle of joy a beansprout husk pillow!

Juvie got this bag of husks from a nice old lady at the market for free! IMG_7470

Let’s have a closer look at this large bag of husks.IMG_7471

This is truly going to be a pillow of love. IMG_7474

So I thought this setup will be easy to remove the sprouts from the husks.. IMG_7476

After a couple of minutes, it’s not working out. IMG_7477

This might be a better setup. IMG_7481

Persevere! This will take a long time but will be well worth it. IMG_7483

Juvie came up with a better idea to do it directly on the table instead. Much more effective and fast! IMG_7486

Now we can start cleaning the husks. IMG_7500

First, we used hot water to disinfect the husks. IMG_7506

Then we  passed the husks through many rounds of tap water, until the water is clear. IMG_7509

And then we sun dry it. IMG_7511

This whole process is super time consuming but I know that the end product will be a gift with overflowing love.
Next step: Sewing!
