How am I feeling?
Big.
And nervous.
The uncertainty of what to expect intrigues me. At least, that’s what I’m trying to tell myself. I have done quite a bit of research on birthing and there are a few things I wish I had done earlier.
- Sign up for the hypno-birthing class with Four Trimesters
- Get a doctor that is pro-home birth or water birth
- Have enough time to psycho Juvie to let me get a doula
Why?
Because I believe that our brains are conditioned by the media to think that labour is painful and scary, that everyone else continues to tell the same story. I believe that we can fight it, but I only realised this quite late in the pregnancy. In fact, I had only discovered this two weeks ago. It is a little tough to condition my mind to think otherwise, although I am trying really hard.
The mind is a powerful and complex organ.
On the bright side, I have a stubborn husband that managed to slowly change his mindset and support me in this upcoming birth with positivity. We shall see. He even learnt how to massage me without pain, although sometimes he slacks off due to being lazy. But I can’t expect anything more as this is quite a big effort on his part! <3
I have created my birth plan and I am very grateful to have a really good doctor in KKH that agreed to almost everything that I’ve stated in there. I have been very blessed in this IVF and pregnancy journey. There are countless of horror stories about KKH and I’ve been really lucky to have met the right people at the right time! I did pray frequently too and I give this credit to Him. He was the one who bestowed our little moon to us and He will keep us safe as well as being blessed with a smooth and beautiful delivery of our baby girl. <3
A little ambitious, but I hope to try my best to use hypnotherapy to manage the intense surges. Hopefully, I have the strength to overcome them without drugs. Quite ironic since I’d never say no to drugs, ever. I guess it happens when parenthood strikes. *shrugs*
Well, a plan is a plan. Shit happens and we won’t ever know till we have gone through it. I’m not hung up on the plan! If I need drugs, I need drugs. But before that happens, I will try my hardest.
Here are some really good videos for the mummies out there. I made Juvie watch them with me so he’s on the same page and they really helped us alot.
A 3-Part Prenatal Class
Really good speaker and super informative! Beats the Thomson Medical Parentcraft Sessions by Wong Boh Boi. We learnt more from this and she is really clear. Highly recommended by me!
A very good video on hypno birthing
